Pastors

Tab Trainor

Through a discussion with a friend in 1990, Tab heard the good news about Jesus and was converted. Not long after that, Tab became involved in Covenant Life Church in the Washington DC area, where he grew in his faith and eventually met his wife, Sung.

To describe himself now, Tab says, "My wonderful wife, Sung, and I have four children that we love and enjoy very much: Abigail, Ryan, Grace, and Stephen." Jokingly, he adds, "I think I'm pretty athletic and that I sing pretty well, too." (Whatever athletic skills Tab may or may not have, it's clear that music is not a primary strength.)

Tab has served as a pastor at Sovereign Grace Church since its inception in 1998. As the senior pastor, Tab has a primary role in preaching and in leading the church. Tab also focuses on leadership development and providing care for married couples and families.

Joshua Fenska

In 1998, Josh moved from San Diego, CA to Illinois in order to attend Wheaton College (BA 2002, MA 2004). He began attending Sovereign Grace Church as a college student during the first year after the church was planted. When asked about his early memories of the church, Josh says, "I'm sorry to say it, but I was one of the most difficult church members in SGC history. My first small group leader deserves a medal of honor for his patience with me! But God has really used this church to make a huge impact in my own life, which is part of why it's such a joy and privilege for me to serve here now."

Josh has served as a pastor at Sovereign Grace Church since graduating from the Sovereign Grace Ministries Pastors College in the Spring of 2006. Josh focuses particularly on providing oversight for worship, small groups, and the college & young adults ministry.

Josh married his wife, Katie, in 2005. They currently live in Oswego with their little girl (Tali) and their baby boy (Owen).

Jamie Maxim

In April 2009, Jamie was added to the pastoral team of Sovereign Grace Church. Jamie first encountered Sovereign Grace Ministries in 1999. He and his family moved from Muncie, IN, to Cleveland, OH, to be a part of the Sovereign Grace church there. After four years, the Cleveland church sent Jamie to the Sovereign Grace Ministries Pastors College, where Jamie graduated in 2006. He then went on to serve with pastoral teams at several Sovereign Grace Ministries churches in Pennsylvania over the next three years before he and his wife, Angie, relocated from Altoona, PA, to the Oswego area with their four children (Josie, Gabie, Gideon, and Maggie). Jamie will often say of his wife, "Angie is an amazing gift from God. She has sacrificed tremendously as we have made numerous moves." In his role here at Sovereign Grace Church, Jamie gives particular attention to evangelism, pastoral care, and church administration.
