History
In 1998, Covenant Life Church in Gaithersburg, MD and Sovereign Grace Ministries sent out a young pastor named Tab Trainor, along with his wife Sung, to plant and build a gospel-centered local church in Chicago's suburbs. A few people from Maryland and a handful of families from the Chicago area served as the core of the church-planting team.
Some things have changed since the early days. If you visited now, you'd have a hard time finding those first families in the midst of the crowd. We have more musicians on the stage. We meet in a different place.
But over the past ten years or so, our core values haven't changed at all. Rich relationships still characterize our church. We still love worshipping God together. We're still diligently seeking to apply God's Word in our lives. And nothing is more important to us than the gospel of Jesus Christ!
Affiliation - Sovereign Grace Ministries
We belong to a family of churches called Sovereign Grace Ministries. Along with about 65 other churches in Sovereign Grace Ministries, we share:
- A vision to establish and support local churches
- A passion for the gospel of Jesus Christ
- A commitment to our doctrinal distinctives
- A desire to see the members of these churches glorify God in their public and private lives—both corporately and as individuals
As part of its commitment to equip and develop local churches, Sovereign Grace Ministries:
- Provides a number of resources (books, teaching, and music)
- Holds conferences (small group, worship, leadership, and regional events)
- Trains new leaders in their Pastors College
