Youth

//six 14// - one boast

The name of our youth ministry (//six 14//) is derived from Galatians 6:14: "far be it from me to boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by which the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world." What we desire most for our youth is to see them growing in their love for Jesus.

"Parent-driven youth ministry"...what's that?

We call our youth ministry a "parent-driven youth ministry." The basic idea is that we believe God calls Christian parents to be the primary influence in their children's lives (Eph. 6:4, Deut. 6, etc.). So, rather than building a youth ministry without parental involvement, we seek to involve parents in every activity that they might be the primary means of discipleship in the life of their youth. We also seek to serve and equip parents to be that primary means in caring for and discipling their youth.

We know that it's a counter-cultural idea, but we find that BOTH youth and parents benefit and are deeply grateful for this model.

//six 14// blog

We have set up a blog to serve as a convenient mode of communication with parents and youth, relaying things like youth-parent application questions and upcoming event announcements. We also hope it serves as an expression of care, providing regular encouragement for parents for the vital task of parenting. Please visit the blog for updates about your youth ministry and the transitions that we’re currently undertaking: http://six14.wordpress.com
